DOFOTT

DOFOTT vs Motion

The DOFOTT figure holding a large clock

Motion is an AI scheduler: it takes your tasks and your meetings and decides what happens when, then rearranges the day as things change. It also has a travel time option. The two products do not really compete — except on one line, and on that line the difference is sharper than the feature lists suggest.

Everything about Motion here comes from their own pricing page and help centre, read in September 2026. If it changes, write to me and I will fix the page.

The one real difference

Motion's travel time is a number you choose. On an event you tick Travel time and pick 15, 30, 45 minutes or an hour, before, after, or both, and it blocks that. Their help centre is explicit that the option does not come from Google Maps.

DOFOTT's travel time is the trip. Google Maps for the hour the meeting starts, from where you will actually be leaving — home, work during your work hours, or the meeting before when there is no time to go home — with live traffic when you drive and timetables when you don't. Move the meeting and the number changes with it.

Thirty minutes is a fine guess for a meeting across town. It is a poor guess twice: on the morning the road is closed, and on the afternoon the meeting is ten minutes away and you have blocked half an hour you could have used.

Where Motion is better

Where DOFOTT is better

Which should you pick

If you want something to run your day — to decide when the work happens and to redo that decision every time a meeting overruns — Motion is in a different class and worth its price to the people who need it. Travel time is a small convenience inside it, and it is offered as one.

If the meetings are already where they belong and what you need is the honest time between them, DOFOTT does that one thing properly. The two also sit together: DOFOTT writes ordinary Google Calendar events, so a scheduler reading that calendar sees the road as busy and plans around it.

Does Motion calculate travel time from Google Maps?

No. Motion's help centre says you tick Travel time on an event and choose 15, 30, 45 minutes or an hour, before, after or both, and states the option is not available in Google Maps. DOFOTT measures the trip with Google Maps for the hour the meeting starts.

What does Motion cost?

Checked in September 2026: $19 per seat a month on Pro AI and $29 on Business AI, with a discount for paying annually and a free trial. There is no free plan.

Is DOFOTT an alternative to Motion?

Not for scheduling work — Motion plans tasks and rearranges the day, which DOFOTT never does. For travel time between meetings, DOFOTT is the more accurate of the two and costs at most $36 + tax a year.

Can Motion and DOFOTT work together?

Yes. The blocks DOFOTT writes are ordinary Google Calendar events, so a scheduler reading that calendar treats the road as busy.
